Tuvunu: How It Conquered Global Markets from Komotini

For the first time in 2010 in Komotini, a new, innovative product based on tradition and nature was created; few believed that this idea would reach so far. Using the facilities of the Macedonia Thrace Brewery in Komotini, the production of Sideritis – commonly known as Mountain Tea – began, resulting in a brew that would conquer global markets.

The choice of Sideritis was not random. Recognizing the beneficial properties provided by Greek herbs and plants, the team decided to create a product that is 100% natural and healthy, focusing on authenticity and quality. Production began in February 2013, and from that moment, Tuvunu began to write its own history.

However, it wasn’t all easy. The company faced significant bureaucratic obstacles that delayed production development, but with determination and persistence, they were overcome. The “shelf battle” was also one of the major challenges, as Tuvunu found itself competing against large multinationals with unlimited resources.

The range of products includes Tuvunu tea with honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice, Tuvunu Free with zero calories, and natural carbonated water in a distinctive blue bottle, with more flavors in the development stage.

Tuvunu tea is now grown in the Pomak villages of Xanthi and in mountainous areas of Northern and Central Greece, while any raw material that comes from violent acts against nature is rejected.

Despite the difficulties, Tuvunu products have managed to win markets beyond Greek borders, successfully exporting to over 10 countries, with the mountain tea being admired for its natural properties and appealing taste.

At Tuvunu, the philosophy is simple: to leverage Greece’s natural wealth in a responsible and sustainable way, providing consumers with a product worth drinking every day. From the mountains of Thrace to the world, Tuvunu offers a taste of Greece in every sip.
